What is an ACT Intensive?
ACT (Acceptance and Commitment Therapy) Intensives are designed to help you achieve a life that is no longer consumed by your anxiety and overwhelm. You are in the driver seat, not your anxiety. You are able to choose how you live your day-to-day life more authentically and freely.
ACT is an evidenced based research model that teaches practical strategies and mindfulness practices to change certain habits, reactions, or behaviors that are no longer serving you.
ACT is widely used for clients that suffer from both anxiety and depression.
ACT is extremely helpful for…
-
Parents that need to learn fast techniques to reduce reactivity but cannot commit to weekly therapy. Parents that are looking for a fast and effective solution.
-
Moms that are consumed by daily overwhelm and anxiety; impacting sleep, mood, and how they interact with their children and family. Moms that cannot commit to weekly therapy because of their busy schedules but need immediate relief.
-
Entrepreneurs that struggle with ‘imposter syndrome’; interfering with their business goals and income. This can be small business owners, therapists in private practice, coaches or other entrepreneurs stuck with an unhelpful mindset.
What is Acceptance and Commitment Therapy?
Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) is a therapy modality that incorporates behavioral techniques and mindfulness practices to treat symptoms of depression, perfectionism, anxiety and other mental health related issues. ACT helps clients learn to manage distressing thoughts and emotions by learning to accept them without fighting or suppressing them. ACT believes that human suffering is impacted by our natural urge to fight feelings away and or pretend they are not there. If we allow more space for even the most painful emotions, then we can achieve a more peaceful and authentic life. Due to the nature of ACT, its one of the few therapy models that is not filled with ‘clinical jargon’ therefore clients find ACT techniques and metaphors easy to understand, encouraging them to practice the skills more.

We will start each Intensive session with a grounding exercise to center ourselves. We will then review skills learned and begin to learn a new set of skills. We will spend time in each intensive mastering the ACT skills, really devoting time on each one.
