Couples Therapy in Norwalk and online Across Connecticut
Helping you build a stronger and healthier long lasting relationship
Are you wondering how you both got here?
Relationships are hard, especially when there is pain and hurt.
Are you feeling disconnected, arguing more and more, and despite telling each other what you need, nothing gets resolved. You continuously return back to where you started; angry with each other and resentful. No matter how hard you both try to understand one another, conversations go south very quickly.
We support many couples who are:
Struggling with the transition into parenthood
Feeling disconnected after several years of marriage/cohabitating
Having a hard time communicating
Dealing with external stressors such as work and family life
Feeling resentful & doubting the relationship
If you resonate with any of these struggles- you are in the right place. We can help you re-build the relationship you’ve been longing for. We help couples get unstuck to find new ways of connecting and resolving their challenges. All couples experience hardships, it’s normal… but some require a little more TLC from outside support.
There is nothing wrong with the way you feel right now. You both are here because you want to get through this in the best possible way.
Your relationship struggles are not a reflection of you or your partner.
You still love and care for each other, let’s help uncover those buried feelings….
The challenges in your relationship make you feel anxious, stressed and more on edge. You may be avoiding friends and family because you don’t know how to talk about what’s really going on. Maybe you can’t focus at work because all you think about is how badly the relationship has become.
It is possible to get to a place where things don’t feel so hard. Things can get better for the both of you if you are open to getting the help you both deserve…
How do we Support Couples…
Imagine being able to get to a place where you and your partner are able to resolve arguments without getting caught in an emotional storm. Be able to share how you feel without the worry of being shut out or judged.
Seeking support can help the both of you feel more confident and secure within your relationship. What does that mean? That you are able to hold space for each other’s opinions, thoughts and feelings without the worry of being dismissed and or judged. The ability to handle conflict without feeling separated.
You did not imagine for things to feel this hard when you first met…but it doesn't have to stay this way.
Things can start to feel easy again for the both of you.
Our approach is centered around your relationship. This means that we do not choose sides nor play the blame game with you. We are focused on understanding the needs of the relationship and the dynamics that are no longer serving you and your partner. We like to do deep work with our couples- understand what is at the root of the problem so we can move toward the relationship you both want. At times we will explore past family history- we believe our past sometimes spills into our relationships and it can be helpful to comb through to help couples build compassion and empathy toward one another.
Together we can identify what behaviors are getting in the way of the kind of relationship you and your partner want to build. We grow as people and so does our relationship…but sometimes the relationship takes time to catch up with us.
It is important to understand that all couples experience hardships and conflict, to some extent conflict is necessary for relationships to grow and heal. Conflict becomes a problem in relationships when emotions get too high and we say things we don’t really mean. This creates resentment and separation over time.
We teach you various skills such as:
Conflict Resolution- how to argue effectively and when to stop arguing
How to express what you need from each other and be receptive to opposing opinions
How to reconnect emotionally- feel close and share feelings openly & safely
If issues are related to parenting we focus the skills to teach time management for the couple in addition to communication skills
